Robert Samuel Moseley

It is with a heavy heart that we remember Robert (Bob) Samuel Moseley, who brought so much love, laughter, and yes, a little bit of fire, to all our lives. Born on November 22, 1950, in Louisiana, Bob lived seventy-four vibrant years before leaving us on January 16, 2025, in the familiar embrace of Pleasant Hill, Alabama. 

Bob’s strongest foundation was his family—his wife Ann of 33 years, and his children, Samuel Moseley, Tim (Kristie) Brown, Kim Robinson and Dana (Chuck) Robertson; grandchildren, Silas Moseley, Elijah Moseley, Timothy Derrick Brown, Justin Shane Brown, Cole Robertson, Kiersten Robertson; great-grandchildren, Desiree Brown and Joyce Faye; siblings, Jean (Joe) Massey, Margaret (Robert) Hudson and brother-in-law, Ted Hubbard. We also hold in memory those who have passed before him: his father, Dr. Samuel Ophillant Moseley, his mothers, Dorothy and Christine, his sisters, Lynn Hubbard , and Janet Moseley. Though we grieve their absence, we take solace in imagining Bob reunited with them, likely stirring things up with his candid discussions.

Bob dedicated an impressive 39 years of his life to International Paper, where he served as a Winder Operator on paper machine 16. Known for his expressive nature, He was the kind of man who expressed himself without reservation, candidly sharing his opinions and beliefs—controversial or not—and doing so with the flair of someone strong and confident. His hands showed the mark of a hardworking man, but his heart was always softer, especially when it came to serving others. He was deeply involved with the Shiloh Baptist Church in Sardis, known for his culinary talents that he generously shared by cooking and delivering food throughout the community.

Yet, behind that unflinching demeanor, his “War Eagle!”, and love for Merle Haggard, was a nurturing spirit. Bob was honest to a fault, caring deeply for family and friends alike, offering his love freely and with an expressive warmth that left no doubt of his affection.

A proud 1969 graduate of A.G. Parish High School, Robert showcased his competitive spirit on the school's basketball team. His love for sports extended to being a loyal and die-hard Auburn fan, often sharing that passion with friends and family alike.

His faith, a moderate yet integral part of his life, wove through his actions and anchored him, especially during moments of contemplation. He may have ended each dayrelaxing on the back porch listening to Merle Haggard, you could always find him starting his day sitting at the computer reading his devotions and studying the Bible. 

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob was a man of many talents and interests. He was not only an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, and fishing excursions. The beauty of nature captivated him, evident in his fondness for canoeing, camping, and gardening on his cherished farm, “The Ponderosa.”

Robert’s personality was marked by his hard-working and outgoing spirit. Honest and caring, he was a genuine friend and confidant, deeply cherished by those whose lives he touched. His presence was felt not only in the shared laughter and cherished memories but also in the stronger bonds he forged within his community and family.

As we prepare to say our final goodbyes, we invite you to join us Friday, January 24, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Harris officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Following the heartwarming service, we proceed to Shiloh Baptist Church in Sardis for the final goodbye, bordering a legacy that flourished like the vine in John 15:5 — "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” Bob’s life story was one of profound faith, limitless love, and a community blessed by his presence, his knowing smile, and his unwavering honesty.

Pallbearers will be Butch Ousley, John Henry, Donnie Boozer, Bobby Falkenberry, Bill Caldwell and Scotty Harris.
