Roy Long

Roy Buchanan Long, age 80, died Sunday December 13, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady G. Long Sr. and Bessie Long, brother, Grady G. Long Jr., and his sister, Mary Lee Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Irma Long, sons, Don (Madelyn) Long, John (Michelle) Treherne and Aaron (Joellen) Treherne, daughter, Donna Sims, brother, Mose Long, sister, Jessie Flowers, beloved brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bubba and Kathy Murphy and several nieces and nephews. A chapel service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 16, 2009 in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Gardner officiating and burial following at Pineview Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday December 15, 2009 at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Mylette Cottingham, Bill Hall, Whet Wilkinson, Frank Moore, Charles Hubbard and Buddy Hardy. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Hardy Sunday school class.
Mr. Long was married 28 years and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was also a retired railroad agent for CSX where he worked 42 years.
