Ruby Frances Dean Dagostin, born June 5, 1920 to Thomas Denson Dean and Flora Elizabeth Farmer in Alexander City, Tallapoosa County, Alabama; died January 1, 2015 in Selma, Dallas County, Alabama at the age of 94.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Thomas Denson Dean, Jr. and two sons-in-law, James Randall Enzor and Harry Parker Cutcliff, Jr.
Most of her adult life was spent in Selma, Alabama raising her children and contributing to the surrounding community. She was a member of the Missionary Circle at Church Street United Methodist Church; assisted in the organization of the "Lucky 13 Homemakers Club"; the Oak Grove Homemakers Club; Elkdale Garden Club and Girl Scout Troop Leader, just to name a few of her activities. Before her marriage she was employed as an operator with Bell Telephone in Montgomery. She completed business school training in Selma in the early 1960's and went on to hold several jobs after that beginning with a position as the secretary at WGWC Radio Station in Selma and ending her working career with Auburn University Extension Service as Secretery to the homemaker and 4-H agents when she retired with 20 years of service. She has been a long time member of Church Street United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Dagostin is survived by her children, Edward J. (Sandra) Dagostin, II, Thomas K. (Rebecca) Dagostin, Frances Diane Enzor and Betty Ruth Cutcliff; grandchildren, Kimberly E. Powell, Amy E. (Brian) Harris, Pamela E. (Gary) Shipman and Thomas Kelley (Angela) Dagostin, Jr.; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brother, John Farmer (Gloria) Dean of Alexander City, Alabama; sister, Sara Nell (Durward) Pless of Northport, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends and her loving grand-dog, Cricket.
Graveside services will be Sunday, January 4, 2015, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Reba Wiley officiating. Visitation will be held at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home from 12:00-12:45 p.m.
