Ruth Buxton Lewis

January 31, 1933 — July 29, 2023

Ruth Buxton Lewis passed away July 29, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born January 31, 1933 to the late Kelma and Bessie Buxton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver William Lewis; sister, Eleanor Buxton; brothers, Kelma Athens "Shanny" (Loedith) Buxton, Jr. and James "Jay" (Doris) Buxton.

She is survived by her children, Janice "Snookie" Parrish and Michial "Mike" Lewis; grandson, Quintin Cale (Rebecca) Parrish and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at West Highland United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Allen officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation, beginning at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hosptal; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
