Ruth Simonton

Ruth “Cissy” Simonton died June 29 in Prattville after a long decline. She was 67.

She was born July 11, 1955, to Ruth Weaver Simonton and Robert Leslie Simonton of Marion Junction. She attended a small school housed in Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church in Selma for intellectually disabled children. From age 15, she lived at Partlow Developmental Center in Tuscaloosa. After its closure in 2011, she was cared for at Magnolia Wood Therapeutic in Prattville.

She is survived by a sister, Stell Simonton (Wade Marbaugh), nieces Anna Simonton and Olivia Simonton, and a brother Robert Leslie Simonton Jr. (Dr. Mary Hyder).

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday July 6 at Prosperity ARP Church, Church Street, Marion Junction, Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Refreshments will follow.
