Ruth Vick

Ruth Vick, age 83, passed away recently in Birmingham. Graveside services will be held Thursday September 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande with Rev. James Nichols officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Stewart Davis and Byron B. Vick. She was retired from Sears in Selma, where she and Jim raised their family. She was active with Girl Scouts. She and Byron had lived in Gulfport for a number of years before moving to Dixon���s Mills where they were active in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. After Byron���s death she had returned to Selma to live out her life. All of those who knew Ruth will remember her infectious smile and laughter. She is survived by her children, Anita (David) Johnstone of Hoover, Elaine (Allen)Linebaugh of Dublin, Ohio and granddaughters Amy Linebaugh of Dublin, Ohio, Pam Slavin of McKinney, Texas, and Robin Scott of Anchorage, Alaska and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Jacqueline Hall of Birmingham, cousin, Bartee Washington of Gardendale, and niece Ann Wilbanks of Birmingham. Special thanks to Alacare Home Health and Amedysis for their kind attention and everyone at St. Vincent���s. 6West and 3South for their compassion and kindness through the last months. The family will receive friends on Thursday September 18, 2008 at the funeral home from 12:45 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Active Pallbearers will be Randy Wilbanks, David Johnstone, Jimmy Johnstone, and Allen Linebaugh.
