Sandra Collins Chandler

Sandra (Sandy) Gail Collins Chandler, of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Baptist East Hospital in Montgomery, AL.

Sandy was born on June 2, 1964 in Albany Georgia to the late James R. Collins and Ruby Collins Shoultz.

Sandy was preceded in death by her father, James Robert Collins; Paternal grandparents, Morris and Elsie Collins; Maternal grandparents, Wade and Sally Allen; nephew, Peyton Mullen and stepfather, James Langston (Pops).

She is survived by her daughter, Gaylen Bollinger; mother and stepfather, Ruby and Carrell Shoultz; brothers, Robert Collins (Dina), Chris Collins (Zina); sister, Gaye Blalock (Maxwell); step brother, Charles Shoultz (Sandra); step sisters, Carolyn Hewlett (Danny), Peggy Wilkerson (Tad); Aunt and Uncle, Jo and Tom Calloway; Fiance, Donald Chandler and special companions, Toodles, Cookie, BJ and Salem. A host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Sandy traveled as an Air Force kid until settling in Selma in 1974. She attended Dallas Co. High School where she was the first female to attend welding classes at the area vocational school. She worked for Copeland Welding before going to work at Bush Hog where she worked for many years. Sandy, affectionately know as "Sam", a nickname given by her father, was the jokester of the family. She loved to have fun and make people laugh. She loved her furbabies. She would take in injured animals and nurse them back to health, feed and care for any stray, often adopting them.

She was a true friend to many. An amazing sister, daughter, mother and friend. Will be truly missed by all.

Services for Sandy will be at Selma Funeral Home, in Valley, Grande, AL. on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service.

Rev. Johnny Jones officiating and Bill Gardner assisting.

Burial will be at Plantersville Baptist Church following the service.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Buchanan, Jason Buchanan, Billy Brasher, Eddie Jones, John Jones and Alex Blalock.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Joshua Collins, Justin Collins and David Robertson.

Entrusted with her final care and arrangements is the Selma Funeral Home of Valley Grande, Alabama.
