Shirley Leverett

Shirley Leverett, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 20, 2023 in Selma, Alabama. She was born on October 1, 1939, in Butler County, Alabama to J.L. Boswell and Lillie Mae Boswell. Shirley was the loving sister of Edward Boswell, Dallas Ray Boswell, and Laura Little.

Shirley will always be remembered for her warm heart and her love for spending time with her friends and family. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy into her life.

One of Shirley's passions was cooking. She had a knack for creating mouthwatering dishes that left everyone craving for more. Her pot roast and congealed salad were especially legendary among those fortunate enough to have tasted them.

Apart from cooking, Shirley found solace in flowers and gardening. Her green thumb created beautiful gardens that were a sight to behold. She had a keen eye for detail and nurtured her plants with love and care.

A Graveside Service will be held to honor Shirley's memory on December 27, 2023 at Liberty Church Cemetery in Greenville, Alabama. The service is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM and will be followed by a gathering of loved ones who wish to pay their respects.

Shirley is survived by her children Mike (Mary) Leverett, Linda (Jay) Wood, and Danny (Trish) Leverett; grandchildren, Lee Leverett, Blaze Leverett, Adelle Leverett, Mandy Henry, J.R. Wood, April Taylor, and Clint Leverett. She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren who brought delight into her later years. She is also survived by her sister Annette (Dean) Thompson, her aunt Annie Jo Leverett, her brother-in-law Zurrel W. Little and daughter-in-law, Debbie Leverett. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish the memories they shared with her.
