Sue Utsey

Sue Ann Utsey, age 68. of Selma, AL, passed away November 28, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Irene Jones Rollan and brother, Jerrell Rollan. Surviving are her husband, James Utsey; sons, Chuck (Tara) Utsey and Brad (Courtney) Utsey; daughters, Sid Utsey and Christy Utsey; brother, Lamar Rollan; sister, Janice (Bill) Logan; grandchildren, Chase, Hardin, Holt, Perrin, Anne Hayes, Layken, Miah Sidda Lee and Bradley; brother-in-law, Malcolm Utsey; stepbrother, L. C. Bowman, Jr.; stepsisters, Carolyn Lee and Betty Miller; special sister-in-law, Sidna Kae Utsey; nieces and nephews, Melinda Fuller, Billy Logan, Pam Rollan, Victor Rollan, Allie Rollan, Donald Rollan, Doris Rollan, Randy Utsey, Jimmy Utsey, Mike Utsey and Bridget Busby and special friends, Floyd and Kay Plummer, Harold and Cheryl Watts and Bill and Helen Neighbors. SuSu was a devoted wife and loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She loved the Lord, her church and her Emmaus Community. She wrote the book on perseverance and touched the body of Christ in a powerful and humble way. There will never be anyone kinder, sweeter, more generous, more loving and forgiving. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Church Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Reba Wiley and Rev. Tony Hughes officiating. Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Brad Utsey, Chuck Utsey, Chase Utsey, Tim Henderson, Ryan Lovelady and Bo Levins. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Plummer, Harold Watts, Bill Neighbors, Bill Cornett, Leonard Ingram and The Becomers Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Selma Emmaus Cluster, c/o Church Street United Methodist Church, 214 Church Street, Selma, AL, 36701.
