Sylvia A (Stone) Smith
Sylvia Agee Smith, age 91 of 84 Broadview Road, Waynesville, NC, formally from Selma, gained her wings and went to Heaven to help God with his little angels on 23 January, 2022. She was at home surrounded by family and friends and holding hands with her husband, Hugo Dale Smith, whom she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerome Agee, mother Ruth (Munner) Agee, sister Nita Emmerson, brother Zack Agee, first husband of 60+ years, Thomas R Stone, son Terry D Stone and grandson Tommy Stone.
Sylvia remarried 8 years ago to Hugo Smith of Selma. She leaves him behind as well as brothers Sonny Agee, Myles (Betty) Agee, and Craig (Sheila) Agee and sister in law Cora Agee. Also surviving are son, Rod (Patsy) Stone; daughters, Janice Pelfrey and Toni (John) Siverling.
Sylvia also leaves 9 grandchildren: Russ (Jennifer) Stone, Tim (Jessica) Stone, Jay (Lori) Meccariello, Christi Delcambre, Allbre (Hunter) Webb, Ryan (Laura) Siverling, Tyler (Lauren) Horton, Michael Patterson and Stephen Stone; Sylvia was blessed with a host of great-grandchildren as well as great-great grandchildren.
Sylvia formally worked at Bayuk Cigars where she trained new hires how to cut and roll tobacco leaves into cigars. After this became automated she moved on to work in the supply department at Craig AFB, Selma. Well, the government up and closed Craig and Sylvia was offered transfer to Eglin AFB FL, which she declined and went to work instead for Mr. Pilcher as the bookkeeper at Pilcher McBryde Drugs in Selma, from where she retired.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 27, at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home from 10 am until the service at 11 am with Reverend Bill Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
A very special thank you is extended to the staff and caregivers at Haywood Hospice and Palliative Care and the staff of Care Angels who loved and cared for our wife and mother so well in her waning days.
