Tara L Jones

Tara L. Jones, a devoted mother of three boys, passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2023. She was surrounded by her loved ones during her final moments and will always be remembered for her incredible spirit, unwavering faith, and strong character that impacted everyone around her.

After attending the University of Alabama where she fostered her passion for education, Tara taught at Leika’s School in Selma, Alabama. Outside of her job, she was an incredible mother who was known for her extraordinary patience. She cherished every moment spent with Willis Watt Jones, George Johnson Jones and Taylor Malone Jones. They were the center of her world, and her focus was always on ensuring that each of her boys had all they needed to succeed in life. No matter what life threw at her, Tara remained steadfast in her faith, always leading her friends and family back to Christ.

Tara found great comfort in spending time at the beach relaxing and walking the shoreline, playing tennis with her friends for fun and in tournaments around the state, and taking spontaneous trips with her loved ones. As we all know, there truly was never a dull moment while in her presence.

Tara’s legacy will carry on through the memories shared by her sons who meant everything to her, her companion, Edward Broderick, and her beautiful surviving family members including her mother, Paulette Tessmann, father, Paul Tessmann, and her siblings, P.J. Tessmann, Jo Young, and Casey Pianta.

Tara was a treasure and a joy to know; her presence will be deeply missed. Though her passing leaves a hole in our hearts, our memories of cherished moments spent with her will forever stay with us. May she find eternal rest and peace in the arms of our divine Father. 

A celebration of Tara's life will be Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Church Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Dianne Everette officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m., prior to the service.
