Teresa Lynn Moore Dale of Oak Hill, Alabama passed away at home surrounded by family who loved and adored her dearly on January 10, 2025 at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).
She is survived by her parents; husband of 38 years, John Laurie Dale, III; daughters, Laurie Gilmer Dale and Olivia Moore Dale; brother, John Thomas (Vicky) Moore Jr.; mother-in-law, Olivia Stone Dale; sister-in-law Marie Dale (Mark) Olinger; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her grandparents and father-in-law.
Lynn was born in Selma on September 26, 1959 to John Thomas and Christine Gilmer Moore. At the age of 10, she joined the Prosperity Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Marion Junction. In 1977, she graduated as Salutatorian of the first graduating class of the John Tyler Morgan Academy in Selma. Lynn graduated from Judson College in 1981 with a degree in Education and then graduated from the University of Montevallo in 1983 with a Masters degree in Education. She married her husband, John, in 1986. She taught first grade at Tipton Elementary in Selma and then at Wilcox Academy in Camden where she was beloved by all of her students. Lynn was also a member of Bethel Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Oak Hill where she taught children’s Sunday School for many years.
While heaven has gained a wonderful angel, the world has lost a beloved soul. She was a remarkable, kind, and giving individual whose memory will be carried on throughout generations. She will be loved and missed everyday by friends and family.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 15 at Bethel Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Oak Hill with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. Visitation will begin at 10am followed by the funeral at 11am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pall bearers: Ty Moore, Mark Olinger, Robert Olinger, John Alan Olinger, Frank Caley, Scott Miller, Adam Dailey. Honorary pall bearers will be the Deacons and Elders of Bethel Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cure PSP, Coleen Cunningham Foundation, and the Helping Hand Fund of Bethel ARP Church.
