Thelma S Wimer of Clanton, Al. passed away Jan 3rd, 2010 after a brief illness. She was the youngest daughter of R.Y. and Margaret Scarborough of Selma, Al. Thelma had five brothers and sisters: Lillian Tucker of Marion, Al., Joe Scarborough Sr. of Uniontown, Al., Laura Bruce, of Jacksonville, Fl., Margaret Chandler, of Selma, Al., and Jay Scarborough, of San Leandro, California. Thelma graduated from Albert G. Parrish High School, Selma, Al. in 1943 and worked as an aircraft mechanic at Brookley AFB, Mobile, Al., during World War II with the civil service. She married Russell Wimer of Beetown, Wisconsin on September20th, 1948 at Dubuque, Ia., then worked as a secretary at Chanute AFB, Ill. Until she retired in 1976. Thelma was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fisher, Ill. and served an assistant coordinator for the senior citizens center there. After residing in Illinois for fifty years, she and Russell moved to Clanton, Al. in December, 2000. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and sisters, and is survived by her husband of 61 years Russell and her many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Brown Service Funeral Home directing.
