Thomas F. "Tommy" Arnold passed away February 27, 2025 at the age of 73. He was born in Selma, Alabama June 30, 1951 to the late Robert F. Arnold, Sr. and Ollie Mae Arnold.
Thomas was a lifelong resident of Selma, where he dedicated over 50 years of his life to his work as a plumber. His commitment to his craft was evident, and his skills and steady demeanor earned him respect and admiration from many in the community. He finally retired in 2023, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.
A proud graduate of A.G. Parish High School in Selma. Throughout his life, he maintained an easy-going personality, coupled with strong opinions—qualities that endeared him to friends and family alike. Thomas had a simple but profound love for life, which was highlighted by his many passions.
Among his greatest joys was his deep love for Alabama Football, a passion he shared with friends and family, celebrating each triumphant moment with the fervor of a true fan. Fishing was another cherished pastime; whether from the bank or a boat, Thomas found solace in the water. Not only did he enjoy fishing for brim, but he also loved sharing this tradition with his grandchildren, imparting lessons and creating memories that will be treasured forever. He relished in the fruits of his labor, delighting in meals of freshly caught fish, but always leaving the cooking to his beloved wife, Mary.
In addition to his hobbies, Thomas was an incredibly dexterous individual, known for his ability to work with his hands. His proudest accomplishment was the family home he built by hand, a testament to his dedication and craftsmanship, which brought joy and comfort to his family.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Arnold, Claude Arnold and Johnny Arnold; brother-in-law, Jim Shepard
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Arnold; daughter, Jennifer (Benjamin) Hild; grandchildren, James Hild and Madison Hild; siblings, Peggy Shepard, Dixie (Larry) Snyder, Flora Robertson, Linda Dewees, Joe Arnold; sister-in-law, Diane Arnold and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at a later date.
