Thomas Fondren

December 24, 1957 — April 7, 2021

Thomas "Tommy" Eugene Fondren age 63 of Selma, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Marion, Alabama on December 24, 1957 to the late Theo Fondren and the late Dorothy Jean Smith Fondren.

Tommy pastored Springhill Baptist Church for 15 years and also worked at Vaughan Regional as a Cardiovascular Tech for 10 years. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, special brother and great friend to many.


He is survived by his wife, Lois Carol Fondren; children, Jonathan Wade Fondren (Astonia), Sabrena Fondren Harris (Brandon), Brigette Ashe Johnson (Chad), and Brandy Barrett Fincher (Justin); grandchildren, Haley Fondren, Natalie Fondren, Jonathan Fondren, Jr., Sadie Fondren, Braxdon Harris, Jaylon Harris, Nayt Harris, Katelyn Allman, Hannah Fincher, and Hayden Fincher; and siblings, Brenda Fondren Colburn (Jimmy), Barbara Fondren Dodson (Mike), and Lynn Fondren Johnston (Eddie).

He is preceded in death by parents, Theo and Dorothy Jean Fondren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Selma Church of God with Bishop Jonathan Chappelle and Rev. Ray Jackson officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Interment will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande.

Pallbearers will be Jason Colburn, Jeremy Colburn, Brandon Dodson, David Hudson, Michael Hicks, Derick Hicks, Jason Free, and Jamie Crane.

Honorary pallbearers will be Philip Free, James Crane, Leonard Hicks, Mike Dodson, Jimmy Colburn, and Eddie Johnston

The Fondren Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the care provided to Mr. Fondren by Southern Care Hospice; his caregiver, Shirley Hill; and his doctor, Dr. Sean Bohannon.

Final care and arrangements have been faithfully entrusted to the care of Selma Funeral Home.
