Thomas Edmund Rimmer, age 84, of Selma, AL, passed away July 26, 2018.Mr. Rimmer was a Korean War Veteran while serving in the U.S Navy. He was an attorney and later served as director of Dallas County United Way and was a board member for Sav-A Life. He also served as pastor for multiple United Methodist churches in the area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew James and Louise H. Rimmer; brother, Matthew James Rimmer, Jr; and sisters, Helen R. Earley, Frances R. Mudd and Catherine R. Miller.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Rimmer; children, Christopher H Rimmer, Daniel T. (Anne) Rimmer, Jamie R. (Toby) Vinson, Melannie R. (Jeff) Layne and Patrick C. (Brenda) Rimmer; stepchildren, Ricky (Karlene) Boozer and Debbie (Bobby) Brown; grandchildren, Katherine (Doug) McKay, Davis Vinson, Kimberly (Brandon) Fritts, Joshua (Rebekah) Rimmer, Cissy Rimmer, Jordan (Amanda) Rimmer, Gerald Rimmer, James Rimmer, Megan (Chad) Adams, Hannah Layne, Lily Rimmer and Jackson Rimmer; step-grandchildren, Jim Boozer and Jennie Brown; great-grandchildren, Finley McKay, Ellison McKay, Adeline McKay and Hudson Adams.
Funeral services will be Sunday, July 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Kopp officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m.
His family members, Josh Rimmer, Jordan Rimmer, Davis Vinson, James Rimmer, Jeff Layne and Toby Vinson will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Memorial Methodist Church, 2150 Broad Street, Selma, AL 36701.
