Thomas Andrew Wallace Sr., age 81, of Selma and formerly of Decatur, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home.
He is survived by his son Thomas A. Wallace Jr. (Selma) and his daughter Stacy Wallace (Prattville), his grandchildren Keri Hillenbrand (New York), Madgie Lashlee (Pike Road), Andrew Hillenbrand (New York), John Wallace (Billingsley), Samantha Dunaway (Prattville), Rose Wallace (Prattville) and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn G. Wallace (1999) and his daughter Leslie Wallace (1991).
Thomas Wallace was born January 15, 1935 in Decatur, Alabama to Solomon and Ruby Wallace. He graduated from Austinville High School in Decatur in 1953. After attending Calhoun Community College he began working at Decatur Iron & Steel Co. as a draftsman engineer. After moving to Selma, Al ; Thomas Wallace worked for Disco Aluminum Products until retirement as Director of Engineering and Director of Research & Design.
Thomas Wallace and his wife were founding members of the Wesley Memorial Church in Decatur. After his move to Selma he was active in the Elks Lodge and with his wife were founders of the Selma Riverfront Market Day.
Thomas Wallace was a devoted family man and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday January 12, 2017 at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma. There will also be a visitation 11-12 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Ridout Funeral Home in Decatur, AL. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 at Roselawn Garden of Memory Cemetery in Decatur.
