Verna Strickland

Verna Swindal Strickland, born December 20, 1929, passed away September 23, 2015. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Allen Swindal; son, Stanley Swindal; daughter, Wanda Lewis; parents, George and Velma Riley; brothers, Tom "Pep" Riley, Troy Riley, Dewey Riley and Buddy Riley, and sister, Fannie Lee Perry. She is survived by her husband of forty-two years, William Calvin Strickland; daughter, Linda (Charles) Roberts; son, Tommy (Lynn) Swindal; brother, Royce Riley; sisters, Vera Riley and Annie Jo Lee; grandchildren, Kim Kendrick, Sam Roberts, Candy Criswell, Bucky Barrett, Tommy Swindal, Jr., Robert Barrett, Dena Smith, Cody Swindal, Heather Small and Wendy Smith. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cory Horton officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Payne Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and loved ones, Sam Roberts, Bucky Barrett, Robert Barrett, Tommy Swindal, Jr., and Cody Swindal. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
