Virginia Lyon

Virginia Lewis Lyon, age 87, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009. Survivors include her husband of sixty five years, David Middleton Lyon, Sr.; sons, William Edwin Lyon and daughter-in-law, Linda Holladay Lyon, David Middleton Lyon, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Janice Pugh Lyon; grandchildren, Natalie Lyon Johnson and husband. Howard Glenn Johnson, William Mealing Lyon and wife, Kim Henderson Lyon, David Middleton Lyon and fiancé, Amber Sermon, Travis Harrison Lyon and wife, Cassie Murman Lyon; great-grandchildren, Miranda Ruth Johnson, Laura Virginia Johnson, William Mealing Lyon, Jr., Caley Henderson Lyon and Kathryn Riggs Lyon. She is also survived by her longtime caregiver and friend, Nell Howard. On Monday, December 14, 2009, the family will receive friends at the Southern Sportsman Hunting Lodge from 12-1:30 p.m.. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. at Benton Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Tate, Rev. Keith Pugh and Rev. Darrell Paulk officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Interment followed the service in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Cliff Leatherwood, Ike Lyon, John Lyon, Duke Logan, Traylor Champion and Jim Mason. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Lane, Pete Williamson, Thomas Coker, Jack Callen, Mac Champion, John Traylor, Jimmy Davis, Harry Unger, Hoffman Rhyne, Elwood Sims, Dwight Julian, Donnie Cooper and Ronnie Holladay.
