Willard Murry Huff passed away August 1, 2018 at the age of 96. He was born February 22, 1922 to the late Emmett and Velma Huff.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Jean Huff; brothers, E.B. “Emmett”, Orbie, Ira, Calvin, Bennett and James as well as sisters, Anniece and Corrie.
He is survived by his son David Murry Huff, daughter Diane Huff Pitts (Darrell), 6 grandchildren ,and 5 great-granchildren, nieces and nephews.
Willard Huff exemplified the fruit of the Spirit of Jesus. He loved his country, brought joy to fellow residents of Brookside Assisted Living, and maintained peace during adversity. For forty years as an office machine repairman, he showed patience and kindness to customers in Selma. Willard was faithful as a husband for 70 years to his wife Jean and exhibited great gentleness in her valiant struggle with Alzheimers. His family and friends marveled at his self control in all circumstance. His family wishes to thank the administration and caregivers of Brookside Assisted Living and the employees of Covenant Care Hospice of Mobile for their kindness.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Dr. Cecil Williamson, Cory Horton and Dorothy Gerr officiating. Interment will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Adam Huff, Jacob Henry Pitts, Tyler Graham Pitts, John Willard Pitts,
Jason Grantham, and Paul Harbeson
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Elkdale Baptist Church; 2221 Elkdale Street, Selma, Alabama 36701.
