William Alsobrook Sr

July 13, 1941 — January 12, 2016

William Norris Alsobrook, Sr. passed away on January 12, 2016, after a brief illness at the age of 74.

Billy was born July 13, 1941. He graduated from Parrish High School and attended Auburn University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He returned to Selma and worked at Selma National Bank. He later served as a sales representative for Bush Hog for 31 years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his place in the country with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Jeanette Alsobrook and infant son Samuel. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Kay Goodwin Alsobrook, two sons William Norris Alsobrook, Jr. (Cathy), Earl Goodwin Alsobrook(Renee), five grandchildren, Will, Claire and Law Alsobrook, Lilly and Goodwin Alsobrook, one brother Lawrence Comer Alsobrook, Jr. (Gail) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Billy also had a devoted companion his Chesapeake Bay retriever, Glen Davis.
Billy was an active member of First Baptist Church serving several terms as a deacon. He especially enjoyed his Sunday school class and Wednesday night bible study.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Light officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the church.

Pallbearers will be Harry Bolen, Paul Hull, Buddy Wiltsie, Carl Smith, Joe Sexton, Tom Coon, Deans Barber, and Buddy Lord.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to The First Baptist Church building fund, American Heart Association, Wounded Warriors or charity of your choice.
