William Bennett

William Glenwood Bennett, Sr. 97, of Selma died Sunday, February 20, 2011 in a local nursing home. Services will be Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Dr. Kenny Hatcher officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Bell Bennett, one daughter, Sara Redd, two sons, Eugene L. Bennett and James Leonard Bennett. Survivors include seven daughters, Edna Driver of Glendale, AZ; Connie Phillips of Bay Springs, MS; Shirley Stone of Demopolis, AL; Bernice Turner of Foley, AL; Janet Stone, Julia Hughey, Brenda Hisel all of Selma; six sons, William Bennett Jr, Billy Bennett, Robert Bennett, Franklin Bennett, Johnny Bennett, and Joe Bennett all of Selma; 45 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, 36 great great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Terry Bennett, Edward Hughey, David Bennett, Randall Stone, Robbie Bennett, and Chris Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephew, B.B. Bennett and the rest of his grandchildren.
